South East Hockey

The South East Branch is the section of the Irish Hockey Association looking after hockey interests in the geographical area of Carlow, Kilkenny, Portlaoise, Wexford and the schools section of Waterford County.  Although one of the smaller branches in the country it has lots to offer in terms of healthy sport and fun. 

Seven Clubs make up the branch.  These are Athy, Carlow, Enniscorthy, Gorey, Kilkenny, Portlaoise and Wexford.

There are eleven second level schools which play hockey in the Branch.

And in more recent times there are five underage programmes running in Wexford, Carlow, Kilkenny, and Enniscorthy. Abbeyleix is a new hockey club in the south east which caters exclusively with under age
  
All schools and clubs cater for women and girls only at present but the underage groups have lots of boys participating.  In addition there are opportunities for men to play in the area South East Wanderers, Kilkenny and Waterford have mens teams.

There is long and illustrious history of hockey in the region with numerous international players at all levels representing Ireland.
